There is TONS to do in Savannah. We had a hard time narrowing it down. We've included some of our favorites below.
The site of our first date, Rocks on the Roof is above the Bohemian Hotel right on the Savannah river. A great place to get cocktails or a charcuterie. Enter the hotel from either side and take the elevator to the top floor.
Though this spot is great throughout the day, we like to come here for brunch. With gameday specials on days that Georgia plays, you can have lunch while overlooking the river and the Talmadge Memorial Bridge.
Savannah's best farm-to-table restaurant. Get the porkchop and you'll be gnawing at the bone when you're done. This is also where we went right after getting engaged, so it's a special place for us.
Located underneath Flock to the Wok, this is a great place to end your night. Get a smoked cocktail or a glass of any bourbon you can think of. Enter Flock to the Wok and tell the host you're going downstairs. Be sure to dress appropriately; hats and sandals are not allowed.
Located in City Market, Pour Larry's is a true dive bar with tons of games and occasionally live music or comedy. This is a great spot if you're looking to party.
If you want to go to the beach without leaving town, we recommend North Beach on Tybee Island. Located a little further away from most of the hotels on Tybee, North Beach is less crowded and has more locals. Tybee Island Lighthouse is nearby as well as Fort Screven, built in 1875 during the Spanish-American war and manned in WWI and WWII.
The only restaurant located right on the beach at Tybee. For free parking, enter the condo parking lot and follow the signs. We recommend the poke bowl and cobia burger.
This is John's favorite spot on Tybee. This dive bar has great pizza and a fun atmostphere.
You can't come to Savannah without visiting Forsyth. Park near the Fragrant Gardens for free parking and walk the park. We like to start here and then walk all the way to the river and back, sometimes hitting bars along the way. You are allowed to carry/drink alcohol in this part of town, as long as it is in a cup (no beer cans/bottles allowed).
The subject of many photographs, Wormsloe is beautiful and has a rich history. There is a small museum on-site and some light hiking trails.
Take a short hike to the overlook for some amazing marsh views, or go a bit further and see the earthworks, built by the Confederates during the Civil War, and an abandoned moonshine still rusting away in the marsh.
Once home to some of America's elite, Jekyll island is absolutely beautiful. We recommend checking out the cottages, Driftwood Beach, and Tortuga Jack's. The beaches here are also pristine and rarely crowded.
For great shopping and views, we recommend St. Simon's Island. This island also has many great restaurants.
If you're a boating enthusiast Harbour Town is a must. With great dining options and plenty of boats, Harbour Town has lots to do all within walking distance. While you're here, check out some of the Hilton Head beaches and check out the Salty Dog Café.
